event design

After being asked to incorporate Event Design for the last couple years, and pushing back on the responsibility, (due to not having time)  we have finally taken the rains and are taking on our first "Full Event Design" clients. Let me take a moment to describe some differences between, floral design and event design to help clarify the services rendered.

Floral Design: is the art that is created with flowers and plant material. Creating floral arrangements, installations, and personal flowers with the client's vision and a dose of our expertise.

Event Design: is the art of transforming an event space. This is done through our creative design direction, utilizing flowers, linens, lighting, rental items and many details to create an event brand that represents our client's vision.

These clients will be very limited as the amount of attention to detail that is necessary to create a cohesive design is remarkably demanding. WE LOVE IT!

You guys!!! We FINALLY wrapped up our Spring 2017 wedding season.  It was 4 months of working every single day to make our clients dreams come true. It was some of the most challenging and fun months we've had in a long time.  I learned some valuable things, maybe the most valuable being that less is more.

We created the largest event we've ever produced with only 4 people.  And only two of those people designing the flowers.  Just little ol' me and Lauren.  I would have never believed you if you had told me that this was possible.  I had completely underestimated myself and my abilities to learn from last year's mistakes.  Grab a good team and make magic happen!

when the cat's away

Just recently I took sometime to go to Holland and visit the flower homeland. It was as dreamy and magical as you can possibly imagine. But the most amazing thing was that my team created the most gorgeous wedding while I was gone.

This was a first for me, as the situation never presented itself and the perfect elements were not aligned.  It happened, and Lauren rocked it.  (We will be getting fresh heads shots, where you will finally get a full on introduction of this rockstar!) We couldn't be more proud of her and the setup and breakdown crew that made it all come together so seamlessly.

Let me take this opportunity to comfort all of our future bride's... I will always plan to be there for your big day.  The reality is, that I can not be available for EVERY single event there is.  It's virtually impossible.  Not because I do not want to, it's because we are growing.  Growth is AMAZING and very excited.  We are able to take on more events than ever before and my current priority to train my crew to create the same quality work that has given us our reputation.  But at some point you have to let your employees that have gained your trust, to shine.

st. patty's

Have to admit hearing the fiance tell me it was St. Patrick's Day this morning made choosing the outfit just that much easier. Green shirt and pants it is.  Besides that awesome fact, we got a call from one of my favorite clients, who happen to have been a flower designer, asking for pots full of clovers.  Quite possibly the only kitschy celebration in the flower industry that I can get behind.

The challenge was accepted and after some phone calls and a quick car drive, we had clovers.  Not the mythical 4 leaf clover but the next best thing, the three leaf clover. Which on a rare occasionally, accidentally produces a 4 leaf one.  And don't even think I haven't been on the hunt for one. Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

it's all in the details

Sometimes the details is where you find love.  These two rockstars got married in Marfa, Tx last year in a quaint ceremony and the most fun reception.  They are my all time favorite photography artist.  So as these images roll in, you will be getting all my gushy comments.

The Houston wedding community was on pins and needles waiting to see what photographer they would choose and drum roll please... they Bradford Martens, if you don't know him, now you know.  Check out is work HERE.

Melissa, the bride, requested that the wedding be dainty.  Clearly this picture completely captures that.  So brides, as you plan for your wedding day, don't forget the details.  And most importantly remember to tell your photographer to capture them.
