Good and True

It was good and it was true. A calm bride, choosing bright colors and adding the element of something we've never worked on before. The element...it would be an Iranian Wedding! The challenge... it was accepted and so we got to work.

She loved the look of Manzanita trees and jewel tones, she even asked her groom for advice.  She knew what she liked and demanded quality. Orchids, garden roses, and lisianthus, touches of gold and lots of textures.

Sara, you're a doll, thank you for your trust in us and allowing us to create something beautiful for you.  It was a pleasure.

Recently we were lucky enough to have her photograph our work.  She needed a bridal bouquet for a young bride.  With some simple requirements... sunflowers, young and fun.

Sydney & Ben

Last Fall one of my favorite people in the world, Sydney Moore, gave Maxit Flower Design the honor of creating flower designs for her wedding. Every business owner knows the anxiety that comes with doing business with a friend. Well, this... is one of my closest friends.  We were full of excitement, nervousness and honor that Sydney and her husband, Ben, would entrust us with such a special day.

She and her husband are nature lovers and enjoy simple beauty; a perfect combination for creating a wedding that was fluid, easy and fun.

This is what we created. I hope you enjoy...

You had me at Sari Wedding Dress

Several months ago I had the pleasure of working with one of the most delightful and creative brides I have had.  As with every consultaion, I asked Amelia what her wedding dress would look like and she began to giggle.  I must admit I got a little nervous...  She followed up her sweet giggle with "well, it's made from purple sari matterial".

I quickly realized that this was going to be a fun one.

The warmer days

As much as I love Houston's seasons... when it is cold outside, like today, I really wish it was much warmer.  In my attempts to catch up with the whirlwind of life I started to look through old photographs from the summer, maybe to catch up or maybe to remember the warmer days.

This past summerIn my efforts to support Texas farmers that include fresh cut flowers in their repetua of goods sold, I visited a central texas farm known as Texas Specialty Cut Flowers aka Blue Barn. Twenty minutes West of Wimberly in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, the Blue Barn is situated off FM 2325 in a very remote location.

It is important to mention that Texas had just delt with one of the worst droughts in recorded history this past summer.  And this is when I thought it would be a good idea to visit the farm.  I even thought it would be a good idea to drag my family with me.

Here is what I recorded from the trip:
